The return of Yahoo! Fantasy Footie!

Hello all. I am back, after many years missing. Still playing during that time. I've decided to write again, but my posts will be simple. I spend more time on other footie blogs like Neal and Jeremy's excellent site and also yffassitantmanager.

This is a trial post and here is my team for Week 4.

GIVEN
VERMAELEN, RICHARDS, WILKINSON
GOMEZ, FABREGAS, MILIJAS, LAMPARD, RODWELL
DROGBA,TORRES

My current overall rank is 981, with 393 points. And here is an analysis of my line-up.

Given is there because he is worth the price. His value is bound to soar, and he is the cheapest of the good keeper picks. By good I mean consistently scoring well. Man City though is still suspect but I would give them the benefit of the doubt for now. Especially with the Toure and Lescott pair to protect Given. This goes for Richards as well, who will benefit from Citeh's new defence backbone.

Verms at the moment is a season keeper for me. Arsenal is bound to be somewhere up there and he has shown he goes up and gets the odd goal or assist even. Richards is in my team because, again, he is the cheapest of the good defenders --> will definitely play, and stands a decent clean sheet chance. Saying that, Citeh takes on the Gunners at home and this could have very bad consequences. The final defender is Wilkinson who so far has done an admirable job for 5.08. Stoke will let in goals, so I am looking for an opportune moment when I can switch to a more reliable clean sheet getter for the same price.

In the middle are the two premium picks. Lamps is there because Chelsea is doing well, though he hasn't scoring as well as previous years. Drogba has been taking his kicks, or maybe he has yet to figure out playing a the top of the diamond. Still, Lamps over Gerrard, whose Liverpool team does not look convincing. The other premium pick is Fabregas, who I kept in Wk3 for 14.69 despite knowing he won't play. It went well, since I got a decent haul of 109 points with a premium player out. The gain here is that Fabregas is now 16.96, and I'm likely to keep him long term so getting him cheap is important because I don't see his price dropping this season. Next are the two new players priced cheap. Both have yet to score big, but the returns on their value is worth it. I rate Gomez above Milijas though, as he is shoots on sight, albeit off-target mostly. In fact i think Gomez > Yagya in the Wigan fantasy footie player hierarchy. Milijas on the other hand is highly rated on the other blogs, but I don't see him pulling the strings in a stretched Wolves midfield. Last of my midfielders is my dark horse, Rodwell. Moyes seems to fancy him as a first team starter this season, starting over Fellaini the last weekend. Plus, he was easily Everton's best player then. He shoots from outside the box so often that one of them is bound to go in, and at 4.71, a 9 point return means he stays. If I were to get a player out, say to put in Zhirkov when fit, probably Milijas would go.

Up front the two speak for themselves. Drogs has to be there, since he is a points machine at the moment and > 50% of the Yahoo! managers have him. At that price I got him 10.66, it is too risky to be adventurous and drop him. Torres will go from strength to strength. I know he will still score points no matter how well or poor Liverpool plays.

My next post will be on my strategy for the season. Cheers!
